How We Work Together
Patrick offers individual counselling online and works from a collaborative, client-centered foundation. His approach is grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity to learn skills that support emotional well-being and create meaningful change. He is practical and approachable, creating a space where clients can be themselves, speak honestly, and explore frustrations without fear of judgment. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, he focuses on developing practical skills through mindfulness to increase emotional awareness, identify unhelpful patterns, and respond in ways that better support well-being and personal goals.
What We Actually Do
Build Skills You Can Use Immediately
CBT & DBT are practical tools. We'll work on concrete skills: how to tolerate distress, understand emotions and why they're important, how to communicate your needs and stand up for yourself, break the cycle of overthinking.
The goal is to make them easier to access when stress is high, emotions are intense, or your mind starts spiraling.
Process Difficult Experiences
We'll work through the calls that stick with you, the ones that replay in your head, the ones that changed how you see the world. You don't have to share every detail unless you want to. The goal is to reduce their emotional charge so they don't hijack your present.
This isn't about forgetting. It's about being able to remember without being physically and emotionally overwhelmed.
Regulate Your Nervous System
Your body is stuck in high alert. Mindfulness and somatic techniques teach your nervous system that the danger is over, so you can actually rest when you're off shift.
The mind is connected to the body and the body is connected to the mind. How you physically feel changes how you think and how you think changes how you physically feel.
